Stellar Stagecoach wines

krupp_vineThe odds were stacked against the Krupp brothers...

They faced a desert mountain landscape with no power, no legal right of access, no known water, and what eventually amounted to one billion pounds of rock and boulder that had to be removed. But Jan and Bart saw potential in their red, volcanic soils. They knew the climate and conditions on the eastern peak’s southwest-facing slope were ideal for growing superb grapes, and Jan, a Bay Area internist with a medical degree from Stanford, was hungry for the joy he once felt working his mother’s New England gardens and his uncle’s Virginia farm..

Orin Swift Shines Again

OrinSwiftMercuryHead
With an already incredible winning streak Orin Swift has done it again with the new release of Mercury Head Cabernet. Orin Swift Cellars winemaker, Dave Phinney, is well-know for his Prisoner Zinfandel. He also makes this fantastic, rare Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley - very limited.

This rare wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Taplin vineyard in St. Helena and the Morisoli vineyard in Rutherford. As in the previous vintage, it offers a complex intriguing structure along with vibrant dark fruit and subtle oak shadings. Cellar for up to a decade, or enjoy now with some aeration. Tiny production on this one, so don't wait long.

Considered their best Cabernet Sauvignon lots, the grapes are sourced exclusively from the Lewelling and Morisoli Vineyard, two of Napa's top vineyards for Cabernet. The 2009 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and exemplifies the intensity of the fruit while showing the unique terroir of these vineyards, creating a wine of extreme concentration and finesse.

Caymus Special Select Cabernet scores big

caymus_09_special_cab
Caymus 'Special Selection' Cabernet Sauvignon
is one of Napa Valley’s most collectible Cabernets and the new 2009 has scored a big 97 points.
The only wine to be chosen twice as "#1 Wine in the World" by Wine Spectator and honored with the highest average score over the last 15 years. The 2009 is another stunning Cabernet but highly allocated since production was down this vintage. Special Selection consistently rates higher than some of Napa’s most sought-after wines like Harlan, Bryant Family and Screaming Eagle. A great cellar selection and one of our "desert-island" favorite California wines.

Patricia Green Cellars 2010 Release

PatriciaGreenPatricia Green's winery is located along Ribbon Ridge Road, in the heart of a long, narrow ridge famous as the home of some of the best wineries in Oregon. Her neighbors include Shea Vineyard, Brick House, Penner Ash, Bergstrom, Adelsheim, and Beaux Freres. Patty's winery is next to Beaux Freres and her estate vineyard is contiguous with theirs.

Among her neighbors, Patty's style is unique. She's a bit hippie, a bit hip, with a dash of down-to-earth, and a smidge of world wise. She and business partner Jim Anderson have grown a poorly managed winery and vineyard purchased in 1999 into an institution among Oregon wine collectors.

Patricia Green Cellars makes small amounts of wine, much of which is sold as futures.
