A FEW barrels for Sun Singer

SS_FEW_Bourbon

There are three things from a distillery that are sure to catch our eye. They can do something different, do something extremely well, or have a local connection. FEW Spirits manages to hit on all three. Don’t be fooled by the shabby exterior, his distillery is already putting out some of the most interesting liquor that we’ve tasted. Beyond just the booze, you can’t help but respect a guy who managed to change the laws of Evanston, Ill, in which, until he came along, it was illegal to distill alcohol.

With all of this in mind we jumped at the opportunity to secure two of our own barrels. These two barrels are currently ageing in Evanston and are expected to be harvested in May.

Call us today to reserve your own bottles of these unique whiskeys.

A New Royal Canadian

royal-canadian-whisky3The old familiar Royal Canadian blend has a loyal following. But now, a new arrival is garnering even more attention, and earning solid sales nation-wide as well. You see, there’s a new Royal Canadian and it’s older, just a little bit smarter, a lot better looking, and about as robust and flavorful as you could want a mixing whisky to be. Royal Canadian Small Batch is an all-new, richer blend of Canadian whiskies packaged in a sleek, substantial, custom-designed, tall, clear bottle with a distinctive label that is screened right onto the glass.

Although it is made in Canada, and by Canadians, Royal Canadian Small Batch is not yet available north of the 49th parallel. Like its stable mate, the premium Caribou Crossing Single Barrel, Royal Canadian Small Batch has exceeded sales predictions and is already into its second small-batch release.

A light, elegant blend perfect for easy drinking straight up or with mixers. Excellent quality for the money, Royal Canadian is a great intro to the delights of Canadian whisky. Now available in limited quantities at Sun Singer, a bottle of Royal Canadian Small Batch Whisky will run you about $25.

Changing Canadian Whiskey

CaribouCrossing2Canadian Whisky has often taken a second-tier status amongst whiskey aficionados. It is seen as thin and bland by many. Without character. Leading the renaissance of Canadian Whisky and available in limited quantities, is Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky, the first Single Barrel Canadian Whisky by a major whiskey company.

Since launching in 2010, Caribou Crossing has received numerous awards, including a 93 rating from the Whiskey Advocate, a double gold medal at the 2010 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and more.

Glenmorangie Artein hits the market

glenmorangie_artein-boxThe famous Highland distillery has announced the third release in its Private Editions range. Named Artein, which is the Gaelic word for stone, the name refers to the influence the local limestone has on the water used in Glenmorangie's whisky production. Glenmorangie Artein is crafted from American white oak ex-bourbon casks of 15 year old and 21 year old whiskies (in the ratio of 2:1), which were hand selected by Head of Distilling & Whisky Creation Dr. Bill Lumsden. These subsequently underwent an extra maturation period in Super Tuscan Sassacaia wine casks.
