FEW for February

FEWlogoSUN SINGER WINE BAR CAFE presents

A FEW for FEBRUARY

Founded in Evanston, IL by Paul Hletko on the very streets that once fostered
the ideas of the Temperance movement, FEW Spirits has established the city's first licensed distillery.

Let yourself linger in our world a noble time where old souls

don evening attire and drink in good company...

During the month of February, we’ll be featuring a variety of cocktails featuring
the complex flavors from a simpler period, nothing brings the world into focus
like the silky depths of a hand-crafted, small-batch spirit.

Remember, the good life requires FEW things.

Here is the lineup of FEW Spirits for February:

Few_GinWhiteWhiskeyAmerican Gin
This gin may just redefine your love for the great libation. You will note wafts of lemon peel & warm vanilla awash in a silky grain spirit. And it is then you begin to notice the familiar nip of juniper on the edges of your tongue - the moment in which you remember you are drinking a new kind of gin. A better kind of gin. FEW American Gin.

White Whiskey
Out of darkness, comes white. The golden age of whiskey is still very much alive, but some of us prefer a little adventure. Bottled before it meets the barrel, this white whiskey retains an unadulterated flavor with a crisp, clean bite. We stand by tradition, but a little change can be good.

The White Manhattan
FEW White Whiskey, Sweet Vermouth & Orange Bitters

The FEW American Gin Martini
FEW American Gin & Vya Dry Vermouth

The Ultimate Negroni
FEW American Gin, HUM Botanical & Campari

Homemade Irish Cream

FEW Vesper

All Cocktails  $8.50

Watch for a changing cocktail list throughout February.

GENESIS
As the Temperance Movement approached boiling point, America's most beloved liquid vice found itself under heavy siege. While connoisseurs saw abstinence creep across the country, the city of Chicago began its preparations to host the most elaborate of fairs.

Only a few miles North, Frances Elizabeth Willard and her league of temperance supporters had turned Evanston into a stronghold for their cause. Temperance Movement approached boiling point, America's most beloved liquid vice found itself under heavy siege. While connoisseurs saw abstinence creep across the country, the city of Chicago began its preparations to host the most elaborate of fairs.

Founded as a dry community, Evanston was home to many influential advocates for Prohibition who effectively kept the city free of alcohol for more than one hundred years.

Though the city legalized drinking in the late Nineties, it took the perseverance of our Master Distiller, Paul Hletko, to reverse the antiquated liquor laws. With roots going back to some of Europe's fabled brewing families, Paul and FEW Spirits have marked the end of Evanston's Prohibition and given the city its very own craft distillery.

The name F.E.W., Hletko said, is suppose to invoke that the company is small and just makes a few products. But some do a double take when they hear the name because F.E.W. happens to be the initials of Francis Elizabeth Willard, who was the head of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union in Evanston during Prohibition.“It is just a sheer coincidence,” said Hletko of the similarities. “[I’m] sticking to it.”
