Greetings my friends!
Yes! I did escape from the Champoo-Banana area (as they used to call it many years ago) for a short vacation in Italy and Marseilles, France, with my wife. We drank mostly local wines - by the way - and it turned out to be the best choice! (Lots of Rose!) And here I am, fresh from that vacation… I wish I could have brought you some wine but it was technically impossible. So… We’ll start the tasting this Saturday with a floral and delicate Falanghina we had at the bar not that long ago: Feudi Di San Gregorio - followed by a Pinot Grigio made by Alois Lageder; we had that wine at Sun Singer for a long long time and it is lovely, fresh and crisp. The third wine will be the 2023 Garnacha called Zismero, from Spain. Intense, with a well structured body. Finally, we’ll taste the Villa Puccini “Toscana,” a red blend mostly made with Sangiovese and 10% Merlot.
I hope you did not have too much damage from the storm… And we’ll thank Doug who had to work for me!
A votre Sante!

Pack your bags and prepare your palate for a whirlwind trip around the world! We’re kicking things off with a crisp, sun-drenched white bursting with tropical vibrancy, followed by an exotic, off-dry German beauty alive with lychee, rose petals, and wild spice. Next, we’ll dive deep into the moody, beautifully aged mysteries of a structured Portuguese red, before finishing with the silky, cherry-and-tobacco elegance of a classic Spanish masterpiece. Four incredible regions, one epic tasting journey—grab a glass and let’s explore!

From the crisp citrus sparkle of Italian Pinot Grigio and the tropical freshness of California Chardonnay to the mountain-born elegance of Alpine Nebbiolo and the bold, smoky richness of South African Pinotage, every pour tells a story. Whether you crave bright and refreshing or deep and brooding, this tasting delivers wines Doug wishes he’d kept for himself!

We’ll start the tasting with a classic well balaced Chardonnay from Paul Hobbs. It has a nice minerality that makes room for some creaminess in the finish. I really like that. The second wine is a Rose from Austria, that is just phenomenal, perfect for a warm afternoon…well …I know it is not the case… but it doesn’t take away the fact it is fruity, floral, refreshing. A good and different Rose! Our number three wine is a very sippable Kosher Malbec, with a great backbone in the finish. Finally, we’ll end the tasting with the Rosenblum Zinfandel, a good value, offering enough complexity to shame the other pricier Zinfandels.
Cheer! A votre Sante!
Greetings my Friends and fellow Tasters!
We are celebrating moms this weekend with an interesting tasting that starts with a lovely Gruner Veltliner from Austria. It is a fresh, young wine, light, that’s made for family gatherings! Next is an Italian white wine made with an indeginous varietal called Verdeca. One must try it just to get a sense of the beautiful florals, fruity and minty aromas. It is unique and captivating. Then, for the next two wines we go to France and taste two wines made for food: the Chenas from J.Janodet, made with Gamay, and a Rhone blend from the Rasteau appellation. I will open this last guy at 11:00am for sure! It is a full bodied blend of Grenache and Syrah with lots of character!!!!
Cheers, A votre Sante!

Greetings fellow Wine Lovers!
We start the Month of May with a diverse tasting! The first wine we’ll be trying Saturday afternoon is a light, dry, crisp and peachy Rose , NOT from Provence but from a very old estate, La Baume, located in the Languedoc, South West of France. Next, we’ll try a Pinot Noir from Monterey, Poppy, that will leave you with a nice mouth feel of rasberries and balanced acidity. The third wine a Sangiovese from Puglia. I know…I know , Puglia is Not Tuscany, and there no mistake. But this Sangiovese will charm you with a smooth texture and a nice gorgeous finish. Finally, we’ll finish with a little retro mixed drink, a tantalizing Bellini that is nothing else than a peach puree mixed with Prosecco.
Cheers my Friends!

Portugal is being celebrated today with four wines who are not only a great value but also tasting quite good. Did you know Portugal has -I believe- ten different wine appelations? Quite amazing considering it is a small country. We’ll start with a white blend Vinho Verde slightly fizzy, to continue with a Rose from the Lisboa Appellation (another coastal region), then we’ll finish with two reds from the Trolley 2 Winery (!) , the first one being a blend, the second one made with solely Touriga Nacional ! Both are from a Winery located in Sobrado, not too far from Porto and their style betray them: robust, dry and complex. Enjoy this tasting of superb values!
Cheers!

Greetings Fellow Tasters! Welcome to our tasting for this Saturday the 18th of April 2026. We’ll start with a classy and superb Chardonnay from the Rully Appelation in Burgundy to set the mood. Fruity, but also racy. Next is a Pet Nat, from Sonoma Valley. Lovely Sparkling, refreshing, too easy to drink. It will bring a Summer Vacation flavor to our tasting! The third wine is from Blue Sky Winery in Makanda, Southern Illinois. Quite a surprinsing wine, made out of Chambourcin grape. Finally, we’ll finish with a Gamay with muscles, from the Moulin a Vent appelation, made by Jerome Janodet : Les Fines Graves from 2023. I love that wine. It is Su-Perb. If you think all Gamay are alike you better come and taste my friends!

Greetings to all, and Welcome to all the moms out there! For this Saturday 11th of April we’ll start with a Chardonnay, from Burgundy more precisely from the Macon-Villages appelation. A pure value, at a great price, smooth , with light citrus, that went through malolactic fermentation. You can cook with while drinking. Or the opposite. Another classic from France is our second wine: a Vouvray from the Domaine Pichot, fresh, round and smooth…Made with Chenin Blanc, ….but not sweet…Our third wine is a superb Tempranillo, (with 5% Gracianno), complex, robust with a great structure and polished tannins. We’ll finish with a Primitivo from Puglia in Italy that is Fruity, well balanced, lush…Great with food like pasta dishes. It makes me hungry thinking about it folks!
We wish all a great Mom week end!

Greetings fellow tasters, and Happy Easter to you all! For this Saturday April 4th tasting, we’ll be staying in California…We ‘ll start with the Sonoma Cutrer Sauvignon Blanc and its silky, balanced acidity, followed by the Bonanza Chardonnay, very clean and fruity. The third wine is the Quilt Pinot Noir, very round in mouth, velvety and fruity. We’ll finish this tasting with the Liar’s Dice Zinfandel , and it’s mouthful of rasberries, and dark fruits jaminess. Enjoy!

Greetings my friends and fellows Tasters!
For this Saturday 28th of March we’ll be tasting five wines from South Africa, all made by Indaba Winery, all at $11.99! Indaba is a winery like no others, making sure the profit of their sales goes to helping young women in need and their education, and helping communities. We’ll sample their Chenin blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Red Blend, called Mosaic. The whites are very fruity, with inviting exotic aromas, while the Reds are also fruity, with berries aromas.

Greetings my fellow fasters! The weather is sooo nice I had to take the wines out also for a change!
So, for this March 21st Saturday tasting we’ll start with a delicious white wine from Alto Adige , made so close to Austria that they speak and write Austrian, hence the name of the wine. Next is a superb dry riesling, yes, aromatic and minerally. Our third wine is the Classic Chateau Haut Sarthes, predominentely made with Merlot and we’ll finish with another classic: from OVR , their lot number 75, Zinfandel based blend, quite complex and still wonderful.
Cheers!

Greetings my friends!
I hope you‘re all ok and nothing around your house blew or flew away with such a strong wind today. Keep in mind when a wine maker is planting his wines, wind is something he has to consider and he does so it is not going to be an issue with the fruits to get the correct sun exposure….. For this Saturday the 14th tasting, I propose we start with an unoaked chardonnay from Galilee, followed by two wines from the South West of France: Felicette, first the White Grenache, and the Red,second, named after the first felines entering the space race… We’ll talk about it in person (!)… Great values, pleasant wines. We’ll finish, as the tradition goes, with a strong red blend from Austin Hope: Troublemaker, from Paso Robles.

I have to admit before hand, I might change the order of the tasting because the wines are almost equally tasteful… SO… We should start with a Soave Classico made by Inama - fresh, floral and a little dry - followed by Duckhorn Chardonnay with nice aromas of pears, creme brulee and citrus. A classic! Number three will be an interesting red blend from South Africa from one of the pionneer wineries in that country. And we’ll finish with the Penfolds Koonunga Shiraz… keep this wine in mind, it will be a great barbecue pairing this summer…

We’ll start with the Graham Beck Brut Sparkling, a gorgeous sparkling wine from South Africa, a value of great elegance. Then we travel to Italy with a Gavi de Gavi, made with the Cortese grape. It is dry, fruity, fresh and very seductive…Then… We welcome back St. Supery Cabernet Sauvignon on our shelves, a classic from Califronia, nuanced and smooth, and we’ll finish with the 1000 Stories Zinfandel, aged in a Bourbon barrel - something unique created by Bob Blue Winemaker, of a nice complexity. I will definitely open those reds at 11h00 am!!!!

Greetings my friends!
For Saturday the 21st of February tasting we’ll start with two white wines who are a little difficult to witrite and/or to pronounce: the first one is a wine from the Txakoli appelation, near the Basque country made with the grape Hondarabbi Zuri, showing some freshness, with floral hints; the second one is a Gewurztraminer, from Alsace … With the third wine we’ll go back to the border between France and Spain with a Fitou; not too far from Corbieres, and Picpoul de Pinet….This wine is nothing short of “extraordinaire” and drink like a much more expensive Chateauneuf-du-Pape! We’ll finish with a trendy wine from Orin Swift cellars, called Abstract, a full bodied ( with explosive blue fruits aromas! ) red blend. Hold on to your glass!
Votre Serviteur,
Laurent
Happy Valentine day to all of Sun Singer customers and friends! It is a busy week end and … We still have the tasting . No! I won’t pour any sweet sparkling ; not this time…Instead we start the tasting with a Gruner Veltliner to celebrate the heat wave, followed by a peachy Verdicchio. Then I will pour a classic Bordeaux style with the Chateau St Seurin and we’ll finish with an opulent Spanish red wine made with Tempranillo Grape called 24 Mozas from the Toro appelation .
